Job Description:
The Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing hotel operations during the night shift while ensuring accurate financial reconciliation, guest satisfaction, and smooth overnight operations. This role combines front office responsibilities with accounting functions, ensuring all daily transactions are balanced and reports are completed in accordance with hotel policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform the nightly audit by balancing guest accounts, room revenue, and all financial transactions.
- Prepare and distribute daily financial and operational reports for management.
- Manage front office operations during the night shift, including guest check-ins and check-outs.
- Handle guest inquiries, requests, and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Verify billing accuracy, process payments, and maintain accurate guest accounts.
- Reconcile cash, credit card transactions, and other payment methods at the end of each shift.
- Ensure the safety and security of guests, staff, and hotel premises during overnight hours.
- Coordinate with Housekeeping, Engineering, and Security teams to address overnight operational requirements.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with hotel policies and financial procedures.
- Assist with emergency situations and act as the primary point of contact during the night shift.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Night Auditor, Front Office Associate, or Night Receptionist in a hotel or resort.
- Strong understanding of front office operations and basic accounting principles.
- Experience using Hotel Property Management Systems (PMS) such as Opera, IDS, Protel, or similar.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Fluent in English; Sinhala and/or Tamil will be an added advantage.
- Ability to work independently on overnight shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- High level of integrity, reliability, and professionalism in handling confidential financial information.
