Job Description:
The Storekeeper is responsible for managing the receipt, storage, control, and issuance of goods and supplies to ensure efficient inventory management. The role ensures that all items are properly recorded, stored according to required standards, and available to support smooth hotel operations while minimizing wastage and stock discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming goods against purchase orders and delivery documents.
- Ensure all received items meet required quality, quantity, and specification standards.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and update stock management systems.
- Properly store food items, beverages, operating supplies, guest amenities, and other materials according to storage guidelines.
- Issue supplies to departments based on approved requisitions.
- Monitor stock levels and inform the Purchasing/Finance team of replenishment requirements.
- Conduct regular stock counts and assist with monthly inventory checks.
- Maintain proper documentation including goods received notes, stock issue records, and inventory reports.
- Ensure proper stock rotation using FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
- Monitor expiry dates and prevent wastage of perishable items.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards within storage areas.
- Report damaged, expired, or missing items to the relevant department.
- Coordinate with Purchasing, Finance, Kitchen, Housekeeping, Engineering, and other departments.
- Assist during internal and external audits by providing accurate inventory records.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, hygiene standards, and safety procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma or certificate in Stores Management, Supply Chain Management, Inventory Control, Hospitality Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in stores, inventory, or warehouse operations.
- Previous experience in a hotel, resort, or hospitality environment will be an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of inventory control procedures and stock management.
- Familiarity with stock management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Good numerical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Physically fit and able to handle stock-related duties.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills
- Experience handling hotel supplies, food & beverage items, engineering materials, and guest supplies.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene practices, and storage standards.
- Understanding of FIFO/FEFO inventory methods.
- Strong organizational skills with a responsible and trustworthy approach.
Previous experience working with inventory software or ERP systems.
